Our two events for the year at Bogue Chitto State Park are confirmed.
The dates are Saturday June 8th and Saturday November 2nd.
At both events we will have a Moon between thin crescent and 5 days old in the sky for observation. At the June event I believe we will have Jupiter rising low in the east close to when we shut down (earlier dates would not give us any planets other than the one below our feet).
At the event in June we will have sunset at 8 pm and the Moon will be 37% illuminated. Jupiter rises late and will be 21 degrees high at 10 pm.
At the event in November we will have Saturn and Pluto very close to the crescent Moon. Saturn will be 32 degrees high and Jupiter 19 degrees high at 7 pm. The Moon will be 36% illuminated.
More details to follow.
