50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing - Huntsville

Post by Bsimon » Thu May 23, 2019 3:20 pm

I mentioned visiting the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing at our April meeting. Anyone interested?

6 of us visited the Space and Rocket Center back in around 2000 or 2001, so a lot of time has passed and perhaps we should do this again. We also visited with members of the Von Braun Astronomical Society and visited their site and were treated to a planetarium show.

Here is some more info:

Looking at the calendar, possible weekends could include -
July 12th to the 14th, July 19th to the 21st or July 26th to the 28th.

Anyone serious about going? If we get a group of at least 4 or 5 I will make some calls and see if this can be coordinated.

Bill and I would be able to attend on either July 12-14, or July 26-28, but just a reminder when choosing the date - we have the Kenner 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 and 20th anniversary of the Kenner Planetarium on July 20th. This will be a great event with Dr. Seab as a guest speaker, PAS solar viewing, and a special guest speaker - Astronaut Jim Buchli, inductee into the US astronaut Hall of Fame, and Space Shuttle flier.
