Satlink Satellite Passage

Post by Jhuerkamp » Mon May 27, 2019 12:04 pm

Last night the first 60 of 12,000 Satlink satellites passed over my observatory. I had the mount position to the proper azimuth and altitude for maximum altitude passage of the satellites and I turned the tracking off. Right on time, at 21:05:30, the satellites started whizzing through the FOV. I was using my WO Zenithstar 61 with MallinCam 0.75X Focal Reducer and MallinCam DS10cTEC. Together this combo yielded a 4.22 degree diagonal FOV. Here is a link to a portion of the SnagIt screen capture video I grabbed during the broadcast I was making on www.nsnlive.com:

The faint galaxy near the lower/left is M64 - the Black Eye Galaxy.
