Re: Deep South Star Gaze Registration Form

I will post the registration form for the 39th Annual DSSG on the DSSG discussion board tonight on or about 9 pm tonight (Sunday, September 12th). Speedy return of the forms completed and with payment should not be that urgent for most of you with the following exception - if you are a couple and wo...

Deep South Star Gaze Registration Form

I have completed the registration form for the 2021 DSSG Registration Form and Liability Release for 2021. However I am not posting it yet as many of our regular attendees are out of their homes and without power due to the damage created by Hurricane Ida. I will likely wait about 1 week before I po...

Hurricane Ida - Who stayed and who left?

We stayed, maybe not the best idea since the hurricane is a bit stronger than I thought it would be and the track is a bit closer. In any event we are committed now and no problems yet. My main concern is electricity loss. Not worried about flooding as we did not flood during Katrina and the city is...

Re: Perseid Meteor Shower - Results and Photos

Walter Sarrat reported earlier this morning that he and David Mayeaux were at the club's SPMOS observing site overnight on Friday/Saturday and that they saw well over 100 meteorites between 2:30 am and 4 am. So the predictions, at least for our area, were off! Thursday morning was basically a bust a...

DSSG - We will have a vaccine requirement this fall

Like other upcoming star parties, the Deep South Star Gaze will be mandating proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test dated within 3 days of arrival for all attendees this fall. As like everyone else we had hoped that what measures we have been taking the past 20 months would have r...

RV or camper - $35 per vehicle. Tent setup is $15 per tent. We are on our own for meals so either dine out or...
